Vienna Prater

Our last stop in Vienna Sunday was a few U-Bahn stops out to the Prater Park, where there is an amusement park called the Wurstelprater. Our purpose was to see the Wiener Riesenrad, the giant ferris wheel built in 1897 and featured 50+ years later in the movie The Third Man

We were immediately taken by the rest of the place, however, with all of the roller-coaster screams, dinging bells, flashing pointing arrows, balloon sellers and other chaos. Best by far was the carousel. I've never understood how some people get to be carousel fanatics, but the one here with its misbehaving horses had us rolling! While the horses were supposed to go around when the music played, one kept taking shortcuts across the middle while others were distracted by us onlookers.

A LIVING carousel. LOVE IT!!! I bet the music (if any) wasn't nearly as fun as yours! That just made my very hectic day!!!
